I'd like to hear from OpenRoads users about performance when working with USGS Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). A typical DEM covers a 1 degree tile which may consist of several million points, depending on the density of the point grid.
Do you find the software is exceedingly slow when working with such DEM surfaces? How does performance compare when a surface is live in the file vs. being referenced from another file? How about when contours or triangles are displayed? How is the performance when processing corridors and cross sections that reference the DEM surface?
