Re: Create Profile in InRoads causing System Fault 5 Crash

Typically when we see this System Fault 5 error, it is indicative of a bad surface or an issue reading the surface to create the gradeline in the profile.  I have looked through some past problems with this crash using the Create Profile command and have a few suggestions and questions.

Questions:

1. Have you tried this same process outside of Projectwise by checking the file out to the machine locally and attempt to run this command?

2. Is this crash specific to this dataset or are you able to reproduce with other data on this machine?

3.  Have you tried this process on another machine to see if the problem could be computer specific?

Suggestions:

Open the Message Center in MicroStation and provide a screen capture of the last messages to help troubleshoot if a specific DLL or process is causing the problem.  This would include the statement of the System Fault 5 and may also provide information on what caused the problem.

When creating the profile make sure the Active Surface is one of the surfaces you are including in the profile.  To do this, if you want the existing ground to be included in the Profile by selecting it in the Surfaces option in the Create Profile command, make sure that surface is "active" in the InRoads Explorer by right-clicking on that surface and select 'Set Active'.  Then try to create the profile.
