I'm currently designing a fairly simple road with channels, kerbs, footways and verges offset from the alignment master string, with earthworks designed off the verges. I recall a conversation I had with a colleague years ago where he suggested that it would be possible to design the crossfall of the verges to fall either towards or away from the carriageway depending on whether the road would be in cut or on embankment, but if this is true I don't know how this could be achieved. Can anyone help?
