Is it possible to install a number of Bentley Civil Products and have them share one workspace folder?
We generally have to install both the SELECTseries 2 & 3 products, as we are not fully ready to support SELECTseries 3, but want to be ready, as some clients may be close to moving to it.
We also have users that sometimes only need the Survey Tools and other times, need more. So we also generally install both PowerSurvey and Power InRoads.
Before our recent portfolio balancing , this was even worse, with MicroStation, InRoads, PowerCivil for North America and PowerSurvey.
So if we take the default install, that leaves me with a minimum of four copies of the workspace on every C: drive. Some of our users are still waiting for an upgraded PC to Windows 7 or 8 and are beginning to run out of room on their PC's.
I redirect everyone to a network workspace where under the Interfaces folder, I've created PowerInRoads and PowerSurvey folders.
So there is really multiple parts to this question.
- Can Ss2 and Ss3 products all share a single local workspace as part of the install process?
- Can Ss2 and Ss3 products all share a single networked workspace?
- Is there any potential issues when a Ss2 product uses an Interface folder that may also be used by Ss3?
- Are there any know issues with XIN files being shared between Ss2 and Ss3 products.
