My preference is to use workspace MicroStation variables like $(_USTN_PROJECTDATA) to define the locations and then the MicroStation Project I select as I enter InRoads, defaults this to the project locations. Once you set up the Project Defaults entry within InRoads then no further effort is needed other than keeping names consistent. Here is an example of my SS2 Project Defaults.
