Probably need to see your template library to start. But from looking at the picture I am guessing that you have a style constraint on the sidewalk point and maybe that constraint is not set to just look to the right side. Or possibly two end conditions and they are both solving and you are seeking the surface to establish the sidewalk point. I am leaning towards the first based on your picture where the two sidewalks share the same horizontal position for one point
