The local DOT has their XIN file set so that the majority of symbologies are only set to Plan display. To work with these in profile and cross section means opening every single one and using the Copy button in the Edit Named Symbology tool and using it three times on each and every named symbology.
And then, they issue an update and you now have your version and their version, again.
Is there any tool in the product that could change this in a bulk manner?
Currently, I'm looking at Excel and the Named Symbology tool that export and imports CSV files. However, that is tricky because they have some symbol font characters in there that screw with that process. They characters for the symbol fonts include double and single quotes and commas. So it is necessary to be very specific in how Excel opens the file.
Oh, did I mention than 99.9% of the survey features are not defined as surface features. So once in a DTM, you cannot get any graphical feedback during any tools that allow you to pick surface elements graphically, not will any new graphics display should you make an edit to a feature.
And this also plays havoc with any attempts to create an OpenRoads DGNLIB or to import features as Element Templates.
