Hi everyone,
The latest ORD update v10.03.00.43 is here and with it a claim of a delivered OpenRoads SDK.
Does anyone have an idea where this SDK is located and how to use it?

Great to see a visibility analysis tool finally make it into OpenRoads. But I think there are a few improvements that could be made, mostly mx functions which are missing.
1. Generate a theoretical envelope. We need to be able to generate a splay which depicts the required SSD, not just the achieved line. Ideally with single line depicting the extent of the boundary. This is really useful for setting back verge lines and centre reserves outwith the visibility splay.
2. Ability to analyse the visibility requirement against a chord or arc length
3. Show sections/profiles/perspective view, as we used to in MX.
4. Edit the feature once placed. ORD doesn't let us change the parameters once the analysis has been run. We have to delete the analysis (annoyingly through the openroads explorer), then regenerate.
5. Ability to delete without having to go through the openroads explorer.
Are further enhancements planned for future releases?
I can't find these answered anywhere else.
Coming from an InRoads environment, we had Breaklines, Random Points, Contours, Exterior and Interior Boundaries. In the new Terrain Element, for Source Features, there are Breakline, Boundary (Exterior), Contours and Spot (Random Point) and then there are Void or Hole (one of which is the equivalent to an Interior Boundary) and Island.
While I can guess that an Island is a terrain area withing some type of hole, I don't know if that "hole" is a hole or a void?
I do believe that this type of information needs to be added to the Element Template or Terrain Element topics.

Someone may be able to address my issues by the subject alone.
File was saved in Sheet one (of 11) and presents w/the first error. MS Word clips attached.
Thanks
When I create a corridor feature point control, selecting through the drop down list, I'm unable to view the target point list. It only shows the active corridor template point list. I'm using ORD update 3.
What is the intent of "frame" annotations under the cross section annotation group dialog? I have found limited help for the dialog, but I would imagine they can annotate the same points as a "point" annotation definitions yet locate them along the frame rather than at the points within the cross sections. If so, I am having trouble getting a text favorite to carry intelligence. If I want to annotate offset/elevations along the frame, shouldn't my OpenRoads Designer Cross Annotation Field for point offset/elevations work here?
Hi All,
I would like to ask in terms of offset from alignment. I am pretty new in Bentley software. Is it possible to create offset from horizontal alignment which will generate a polyline and no another alignment. I am used to working in Civil 3D. I was wondering, if is it possible also in OpenRoads. I am creating a tramway corridor and this tool would be very helpful for me. Thank you.

Hi all,
I would like to ask if it is possible to add a bubble in inlet structures ID in the profile by using Annotate or Create Profile? Similar to the image below where the inlet IDs are inside a bubble. I am using InRoads Storm and Sanitary.
Will appreciate all suggestions.
Thank you!
I have an alignment in .alg format, with horizontal and vertical data, that I'm trying to import into ORD. Using the "Import Geometry" command I can import directly from the .alg file. The horizontal alignment comes in correctly, however the vertical alignment is only showing up as a tangent using the first and last points. I tried exporting the .alg file to a land xml, but still the same result.
I thought this functionality was working correctly in previous versions, am I missing something?
Using OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition - Version 10.03.00.43
Thanks for the help
hi,
I think I missed sth. I would like to test new Text Favorites Manager that was announced to be enabled with ORD Update 3 as it consumes Microstation Update 8 platform.
Is there a hidden switch to run Text Fav Manager? How to start the tool. I thought it is accessible via Text Editor, under Text Text Favorites/Manage.
In my installation it is missing. I am running 10.03.00.43.
thanks in advance for your assistance.
Hello Bentley communities!
I was asked to create a station and offset report for a saw cut lane from a BL . However I dont know how to set limits for the stations every 10 ft. In my report for example I get Sta 8+61.20 (every 10'). Is there a way to tell open roads to start my report at certain station for instance to start my report at station 8+61.00 instead of 8+61.20?
Thank you in adavance
Hi Everyone,
I've created a custom annotation group loosely based on the default dgnlib supplied by Bentley but when I try to use my custom annotation, it reverts back to the ORD default. Please see the video below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miogE1UjXEM
Why is not displaying the annotation group as defined in the dgnlib?
I have used the same file name as the default file so that I don't have to worry about editing the configuration.
Josh
I have been struggling with making changes to a corridor, as you can see to the right it leaves behind components after using a parametric constraint and/or point control. These residual components show up on the cross sections, and under the project explore they are labelled all as simply Component_Name2. Is there a command to clean this up? or start over? Been using Openroads for two years now, and our company is really thinking of moving away from this platform as its costly to stop and fix errors every day or so.
When placing Point geometry you have the option to place a 3D point at the same time. When doing this it asks you the elevation. Is there a way use the elevation of the Active Surface automatically?
I saw a video somewhere last week explaining how to set up your annotation for cross sections sheets. I understand that update 3 processes annotation a little differently and changes have to be made to your configuration for this annotation to once again show up when cross sections are generated. I believe this may also affect profiles. Can someone post a link to this video for me?
Thanks,
Chris

I want to edit the application pull-down menu throughout the organization to remove Storm & Sanitary since we are not licensed for it. I can't quite figure out how.
We use configuration files to point to standardized files on the network. there is a dgnlib set up that has our interface in it, and I was told that I have to edit the dgnlib to remove the menu option. When I open the dgnlib and use Workspace>Customize, Tools tab, Menubar>Applications>Inroads, everything is green (read only?) and the editing options, like Delete, are grayed out and unavailable. I have the same results if I open a generic dgn instead of the dgnlib.
I found a few posts in the forums that said to make sure that the dgnlib is added to MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST, so I added it, restarted mstn, but I am still unable to edit the menu.
Any advice?
Hi
How can I get annotative text on Alignment (Alignment along Horizontal profile) and Profile (Profile along active profile)
I would like to have length and radius on horizontal and slope and radius on profile.
Regards
Sigfus
Which is the correct Cross Section Annotation Field for annotating crossing feature names (not definitions) such as roadway or track centerlines? I have tried most of the candidates here and I confirm that I did in fact give all of the crossing features a unique name. The closest I got was "Alignment Name" under point, but that only produces the feature name of the element used to produce the XS.
When I use the Quick Profile From Surface command, I cannot get the profile to write to the gpk. When I create a proposed surface using the vert tools it does write to the .gpk. How do I send the Quick Profile From Surface to the .gpk?
Hello,
I am trying to create an excavation surface having a 10-ft cut below existing ground and a 2H:1V slope up to daylight. The existing surface was copied and dropped to the cut depth and Generate Sloped Surface was used to project the slopes up to existing ground.
The results look good at first, the breakline and slopes are created but when I create a profile and measure, the slopes are closer to 9H:1V instead of 2H:1V and in some areas the slopes extend beyond the intercept surface while in others the slopes do not fully extend to the intercept surface. Has anybody else experienced problems with this? I am relatively new to Inroads so I wonder if I am not using the right tool for the job, any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Chris
