Looks like the way to go about it is to change the design stage of the corridors to final mesh, create a file and attach the corridors to that file. then use the create terrain models from element tool, choosing the final mesh….but what about the civil cels. how do you get a final mesh of a civil cel to add to the terrain model. thanks for your help, brian

ORD UK Configuration
Hello there,
Please excuse me if something below may sound like a rant, it is.
I am a long time user of MX looking to switch to ORD. The biggest hurdle for me is creating a Configuration from scratch. I have started, done some of it, but the "intelligence" of the software relies on the feature definitions and the "Configuration" itself. Without a proper Configuration this software is as useful as microstation in a sea of AutoCAD and C3D. Not all the relations between the feature definitions, annotations, feature symbologies, element templates, item types, etc are obvious, nor very well documented, as a bonus they change quite often.
Is there something like an UK Configuration for ORD?
I mean something more polished than last year, compliant with IAN184/16 and Uniclass 2015, the last one I had access to was "ordd10050030en_gb.msi". That was half baked and Uniclass in all it's glory was dumped in 1000s of levels and element templates.
I am looking at something more like the AU/NZ Configuration. I do understand that HE does not want to involve themselves in such a matter (not the best policy if you want everything BIM compliant), but when people start getting creative, like they did with MX, you end up having everyone "migrated" to C3D.
And if such thing exists, can it be distributed via zip file rather than msi? When refreshing it, requests admin privileges and we must answer too many questions, often to people who have no idea of what we're talking about, half a world apart, bored to death by anything that's not Windows, Office, pdf or sometimes PW, waste of time and energy.
Can Bentley, please, move the Configurations/Country Kits in an area where we can download them without Select? Like in the Communities or a section of the Learn server? We're not downloading software that can cause licensing issues, we're downloading content.
Some of us are forced to switch to C3D and struggle to show a viable alternative, can Bentley help us in our endeavour?

Cross section
Hello there again. I would like to ask you, guys, how I can creat and set up cross section in open site. Whatever I change in settings (Explorer -> Annotation group -> Cross section -> Drawing -> 'my personal settings from our dataset in our company') I can't see in final sheet where I created cross secion of my river bed.
So, my question is, how I can set up cross section in open site If I want something like is on the picture. There are all vertical and horizontal dimensions, stations etc. Thanks a lot for the answers.

Hello all,
I am new to OpenRoads and I recently installed and I'm missing a few major tools within the Civil/Main tools.The Manipulate tools are now missing the Move Parallel and Move to Contact functions, and the Modify tools are missing Break Element. In their place is a description that says for example " Unable to find Rsc Icon for Tool at path=Drawing\Linear\Create Curves\Curves Calculator"
Is there some workaround or update that fixes this?

ORD Plan Profile Sheets production problem
Hi everyone,
I have been producing plan sheets for a while and it has always been problematic. Up to now I could find ways to solve the problems but this time I couldn't find any.
Saved views of profiles getting lost occasionally. Anything random causes this. I need to save many copies of the plan profile dng file to turn back to correct one also undo never works. After the saved profile view get lost, only the profile annotations left behind. My ord version is 2019 R2 U7 10.07.03.18. This also happen previous 2 versions.

ORD Tilted plan
Hi,
In MX you could create a tilted plan from 3 points (x,y,z) by Transformation- 059 tilted plan.
How can I do something similar in ORD?
I need it to place/create a cell for a roundabout from 3 crossing roads (x,y,z)
Looking something like the below but just a terrain/tilted plan which expands beyond the circle - with the purpose to drape the circle (roundabout)

i wont to known some information about offset ogls generation , i have designed a alignment and i have created offset strings both left and right ( at a distance of 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20) and i have draped existing levels to them . and i extracting levels left and right through dynamic reports like by one by one , ( 2 after 4 ...) its a making long process , i need to be extract data at a time all offset levels . could you please say me how to dooo ( ,i was using benetely mx road vsi8)

ORD Terrain work
Hallo all,
I'm searching answers for the following questions (and I hope for your help):
1. Has anyone found a way to label spot elevations in a regular grid? I want to label the elevations of a delta model like in the old InRoads function "Create Difference DTM" - and by the way, I tried to switch off the leadersbecause I want the label on the rexact spot, but all the changes in Dimension Style didn't stop the leaders.
2. When use a terrain in ORD 10.7.318 with the Metric Standards WorkSpace, the contour labels are writte looking downward and not looking upward as it's common behaviour. In tthe text settings and the text styles dialog I havn't found a setting to rotate the text, so I think itÄs a ORD setting (or a bug).
3. After importing a DTM from a InRoads *.dtm file and importing only the terrain I have seen some spikes in the triangles where the elevations are wrong. The error comes from the source dtm. With the Edit Terrain -> Delete Vertex I couldn't delete the points, and after switching on the Source Features-> Breaklines the point is a (end)vertex of a breakline. I tried to change the breakline but to no avail. Has anyone a idea how to correct the terrain - by deleting a vertex in a breakline or changing a terrain source feature breakline?
4. How can I thin a terrain after importing?
5. I want to see 3 different water level contours at given elevations for a retention pond. The contours don't have regular intervals and I need them written in the graphics, not as dynamic elements.
6. I want to show the results of the cut/fill volume creation limit to a part of the terrain model, but there is no option for a fence (nowhere in ORD functions!) and the named boundaries also didn't help.
7. Can anyone propose a configurate to use one workspace - maybe with different worksets - for ORD/OSD/ORLD? It's a lot of work to create, change and manage a workspace for this generation of Bentley cvil software, and managing 2 or 3 workspaces doubles not only the efforts but also the possible errors.

Error importing .dat file in Subsurface mode ls Model!!!!
Hello,I'm trying to import a utility model from SS4 to OpenRoads. I followed the instructions here. I load my .xin file, my .dat file, and my .sdb file. I didn't load a .idf file, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.Here are the issues I'm having:1. There is nothing in my Project Configuration dropdown menu to choose from. ( I guess I'm not sure if this is causing issue #2 below).

Asset Manager: Attach Item Type with Named Boundry Name as property
Hej
We have created named boundries representing construction phases and now would like to assign Item Types to CAD elements with Asset Manager by Named Boundry.
Firstly when I cut meshes with Quantities By Named Boundries then Asset Manager returns infor that no elements found in Named Boundry and no Item Types are attached (tried with both options: inside and overlap)
Secondly what we need is to have Named Boundry Name to be attached to CAD elements as Item Type Property, so every CAD element is tagged with Named Boundry name, eg for the sake of schedule simulation, (4D, 5D, etc.
I wonder if any of you here had similar idea to tag CAD elements, and an issue with using Asset Manager with NB.

OpenRoads Designer, can I get a surface along an element or at a station that isn't "smart" for use with typical sections?
I'm working in OpenRoads Designer, and need to get a section of the terrain that I can use to draw out multiple shifted pavement locations in cross section/typical section view without going through the process of creating all of the corridors. I can't seem to find a way to use a pattern line (Geopak way) or named boundary (ORD way) that allows me to have that existing ground line that I can recreate multiple times for my needs. Please help, at this point I'm going to have to measure and draw my own existing ground from the terrain, and as you can imagine that is not an efficient process.

How to write the Rules in OPEN ROADS

any one guide me how to write Rules in the Open Roads for shifting of the Barrier at median from CENTER towards RIGHT/LEFT as per the visibility analysis.

1.)Con Crash Barrier is in YELLOW COLOUR
2.)At the start of the image the Con Crash Barrier is at the Center of the alignment

SUDA and Survey Data
Folks:
I am curious as to how the community is handling survey data as regards utility information (existing water lines, tel Lines, sanitary sewer lines, valves, etc. and additionally storm Inlets, manholes, etc.) in combination with SUDA feature definitions. We currently have a proposed SUDA library with all of our proposed utility/ stormwater/ sanitary sewer information built into it which is working fine on the design end of things, but our survey dumps are strictly survey codes tied to line and cell features. In SS2, we used InRoads Storm and Sanitary to create existing networks from the survey data which was rather cumbersome, but which did provide good results (basically recreating the surveyed utility information within the SDB format).
Are you folks running two SUDA dgnlibs (one for proposed and one for existing utilities data), or are you using a single SUDA library which contains both existing and proposed utilities data? Finally, is there a manner in which to tie the survey codes directly to SUDA feature definitions (i.e., when the survey dump occurs, the codes tie directly to SUDA plan and 3D models and create true existing networks through Survey Processing in situ).

Changing Element defined Plan Named Boundaries Group
I have several element defined Plan named boundaries. They are currently all in the same group report, but I would like to create a new group and move some of them to that group. I use these to create a volume report for excavation progress. The Areas are spilt in locations that are key for the on-site project staff but I would like to split them into different report groups without having to recreate these. I can seem them in the item browser/file I could have swore before that I could drag them to a new group but it won't allow me to do that anymore in the latest update.

I can't access the Text Favourites Manager
I have lost the text favourites for some plan annotation so my annotation no longer reports the station/bearing/etc. This appears to have happened when associating the model file with a new workspace and workset that doesn't have these text favourites in a dgnlib. I would like to import the Text Favourites from the previous dgnlib however I cannot access the Text Favourites Manager through the Place Text tool, why is this?

ORD - Place Point with Civil Accudraw
Ok I'm not sure how to ask this but here goes. I would like to use the station/offset feature in Civil Accudraw to place a point. The only way I can find to enter a station into Civil Accudraw is to manually key it in. What I would like to do is to graphically select a location on an alignment and have that station returned exactly to Civil Accudraw . I know I can draw a line at a certain distance perpendicular to the alignment and then snap to the end of the line to store the point and then delete the line. But is there a way with Civil Accudraw to accomplish this without having to round the station.

3D Guardrail Linestyle - Solids appearing in wireframe, materials not applying

I'm working in ORD 2019 Release 2 and I'm having some issues with creating custom 3D linestyles.
There are two issues:
- Materials assigned to elements that make up cells for point components in the linestyle do not display correctly.
- One of my elements (a 3D guardrail post) does not render as a solid/ mesh, but the rest of the components do.
In the screenshot below, the elements used to create the linestyle are shown (guardrail rail, flared ends, spacer block, and post) and to the right is how the linestyle displays when used. The guardrail posts show as wireframe instead of a solid... The materials aren't as big an issue as the posts. Anyone know how to fix this?
The guardrail posts are Smart Solids, the spacer block is a Slab, the rails are Extrusion Surfaces, and the flared ends are Smart Surfaces.
