Yes, I understand the category in the D&CM and if I select one of the categories with a "paper" icon I should expect a program to run in background to perform a task. I have selected "create shape for striping" category and set Max Gap to 0.5ft (stripe width?). When I double click the category, I select line (center of road chain), I am prompted to accept selection and returns message "shape closed". The shape connects the ends of the road, which does not appear to be very helpful (see attached image for closed shape and selections). I notice some DOT's have instructions embedded in the D&CM. I do recognize that when I modify an element, the category symbology takes affect when Place Influence is checked but must modify or create element to get this performance. However, I also notice that the Draw Cogo Element is not creating a line in the Cogo database but does appear to modify the symbology as expected. So my questions are: how am I supposed to know how to set-up items based on D&CM category if there is no instructional information available in the D&CM? and Why does the "Draw Cogo" selection not create a line in my Cogo database?
