I have the need to keep MicroStation Ss2 and SS3 on my PC's and know I can use the -wsLoad_InRoads_SS2=1 and -wsLoad_InRoads_SS3=1 command line switches to control which application menu loads, and which tasks are loaded, but I have found that in MicroStation Ss3, if I do not start from an InRoads Icon, there are pieces of the interface missing. Specifically, the project explorer is missing the three Civil items - Civil Model, Civil Standards and Survey. The only way I was able to load those items was to also force the loading of one of the InRoads Applications by adding -wsINROADS_APP=InRoads to the shortcut.
Even after using this, it was sometimes necessary to open the Project Explorer Settings dialog box (under the Settings menu) and just so you understand, the Browsers item would also be missing the civil items without the second command line switch.
The reason I point this out is that the only way I can run InRoads SS2 with MicroStation Ss2 is from MicroStation Ss2 with the -wsINROADS_APP=InRoads command line switch, but the result is similar to my MicroStation Ss3 session - pieces of the interface are missing. For example, in Design File Settings, I have a Data Acquisition leaf, but when selected, the pane is blank. There may be other areas missing, but that to me is symptomatic of a similar issue experienced in MicroStation Ss3.
Since to get the full interface in MicroStation Ss3 I am forced to use an extra command line switch, or start from an actual InRoads Icon, I need to know what options I have for Running InRoads Ss2 with MicroStation Ss2? I believe it comes down to two questions:
- Can I force the loading on MicroStation Ss2 from an InRoads Ss2 Icon?
- Is there a second command line switch I can use with MicroStation Ss2 to force all of the InRoads Ss2 interface to load?
As a post script, I just noticed that even in MicroStation Ss3 with InRoads Ss2, I am missing the data entry portion of the Design File Options - Data Acquisition. So this problem is bigger than just how I launch InRoads.
