InRoads Help! Importing multiple points into a surface with "random" as the point type, imports all points as "one" feature!!

I am looking for help on an issue as follows:

When importing a text file of multiple points the only option is to set the point type to "random" (as opposed to break line, contour etc.).  When you use the "random" point type it imports all the points but classifies them all as only "one" feature.  What I need is to import all of the points into an InRoads surface as individual features.  I am wondering if anyone knows how to do that?  Is there a way to adjust the settings of how "random" point type imports?  Perhaps it can be set to import all points as individual features?
